Amal Shakeel
Your East Auckland Women’s Health Senior Physiotherapist
Amal is an experienced physiotherapist who has been in clinical practice since 2013. She is dedicated to delivering patient-centred evidence-based care and supporting individuals in achieving optimal functional outcomes.
Her musculoskeletal expertise spans the management of acute injuries, overuse conditions, and comprehensive rehabilitation. She has a particular interest in spinal rehabilitation, managing both acute and chronic conditions, including degenerative disorders. Amal utilises a combination of soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisation, and tailored exercise prescription to optimise recovery.
Amal has developed a strong focus in women’s health physiotherapy, with experience in managing pre- and postnatal conditions, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse.
She also has a special interest in scoliosis management and applies the Schroth method to deliver targeted, evidence-based treatment with positive clinical outcomes.
Beyond clinical practice, Amal is actively engaged in research and professional development. She has authored eight articles published nationally and internationally, and has written a book on conservative scoliosis management, available on Amazon.
Amal relocated to New Zealand with her whānau in 2023. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and exploring diverse cuisines.
