Sarah Gladstone

Your Howick Counsellor

Sarah has been a Howick local since her teenage years, returning to live here with her husband and family following a period of working abroad.

Her interest in mental health and wellbeing began whilst navigating her own difficult seasons and not knowing where to seek help. Years later, as a graduate of a Bachelor of Counselling degree, Sarah is passionate about working alongside others who need support and may be feeling overwhelmed or stuck.

Sarah recognises that experiences such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and relationship conflicts can undermine a person’s peace and impact their daily life and wellbeing. She sees counselling as a safe space to slow down, to be genuinely listened to, and to begin making sense of your situation, and how to move forward.

Sarah uses evidence-based counselling approaches that are compassion-focused and client-centred. Drawing from a mix of modalities such as Person-Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, she will tailor her approach to what best serves you and your goals. Sarah will explore your experiences with empathy and compassion, looking for how these may be negatively impacting you and keeping you stuck. From a strengths-based perspective, Sarah will help you to identify skills and resources that align with your values and support you in your goals and in your journey forward.

You might be asking, “Is counselling right for me?” If you are noticing disruptions to daily life in areas such as mood, sleep, normal activities, or relationships, perhaps it’s time to seek support. Sarah is available for a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and any questions you have.
